The article presents results of the performed two-part laboratory studies, connected to research of ability of seeds and sprouts of buckwheat varieties from different periods of selection to sprout in osmotic solution. It is established that in the course of selection the expressed deteri- oration of drought resistance of buckwheat varieties at early stages of growth and development was not observed. The conducted researches allowed to reveal the varieties characterised by high level of resistance to deficiency of moisture.
