A field experiment was conducted during the Rabi season imposing 20 treatment combinations comprising four wheat varieties viz. KRL 210, WH 1105, HD 3086 and DBW 88 and five nitrogen levels i.e.0, 50, 100, 150 and 200 kg N ha-1 applied in split-plot design with varieties in main plots and nitrogen levels in sub-plots in three replications. All the growth parameters i.e. plant height, dry matter accumulation, number of tillers meter-1 row length and leaf area index, yield attributes like number of effective tillers meter-1 row length, number of grains spike-1, yields and protein yield were recorded significantly higher in the variety WH 1105. However, dry matter accumulation and leaf area index were at par with varieties HD 3086 and DBW 88. The highest protein content (13.0%) was recorded in DBW 88 which was significantly higher than all other varieties. The incremental N levels significantly increased LAI and number of grains spike-1 up to 150 kg N ha-1 but plant height, dry matter accumulation, number of tillers meter-1 row length, number of effective tillers meter-1 row length, and grain yield were at par with 200 kg N ha-1. The quality traits viz., protein content and protein yield also followed the similar trend. However, test weight significantly increased up to 200 kg N ha-1 compared to N levels from 0 to150 kg N ha-1.nbsp;
