Traditional soybean protein concentrates (SPC) are produced by sieving input material, extracting sugar and other substances soluble in water/alcohol solution, pressing the material from the extractor in order to remove the solvent, toasting and complete removal of the solvent from the solid part, along with further sieving and grinding processes. The purpose of the pressing process is solvent removal from the solid part of the material obtained after extraction. The usual solvent content in the material from the extractor is 60-62% of volatiles, mainly water and ethanol. The goal of pressing is to remove as much solvent as possible to relieve the next step where heat treatment removes the solvent.
