The effect of livestock grazing on phytocenoses’ composition and phytomass stock, as well as soil properties, was studied in the floodplain ecosystems of the Belaya River (52º40'-53º00' NL, 103º00' – 104º00' EL, Irkutsk region, Russia). The uncontrolled grazing led to the significant changes in phytocenoses composition and to serious soil compaction, changed aggregate structure and water resistance and related decrease in soil water reserves.
