Football courts are open sports facilities intended for professional athletes, but also for all other citizens interested in sports and recreation. Serbia has not devoted enough attention to the construction and maintenance of sports turf fields, especially in small communities and lower leagues. Therefore, trainings and matches are playing on poor playing field condition. The aim of the research conducted during 2019 was to evaluate the turf quality of the OFK “Slavija“ Novi Sad field before and after applied measures as well as to analyze compaction of the soil. Functional and visual characteristics of the turf were analyzed by National Turfgrass Evaluation Program (NTEP method) before and after implemented measures, i.e. aeration, sowing, and fertilization. The soil was neutral to slightly alkaline, carbonate, very rich in organic matter, with a very high phosphorus content and a high potassium content. At the beginning of the research the turf was uneven density, medium coarse to coarse grass texture, and low hardness (ratings 3 and 4). The applied measures gave the best results at sideway parts, while the improvement of the turf firmness and elasticity was noticeable in all parts of the field. The high soil compaction was determinated at the field. The specific soil resistance in most of the field exceeded 2 MPa, while the Cone index ranged from 1.6 to 2.8. The field of OFK “Slavija” is functional for playing championship games and the characteristics of the turf could be greatly improved with proper turf management and adequate use of the entire football court
