Analysis of a U.S. corn export subsidy
1982
Sharples, J.A.
Extract: Some farm leaders have proposed that the United States temporarily subsidize corn exports to help increase corn sales and raise corn prices to producers. The impact of a 1-year corn export subsidy is examined. Results show that a 1-year export subsidy on corn would increase corn exports, reduce year-end corn stocks, increase the corn price, and increase producer revenue. On the other hand, export revenues would fall and the cost of the subsidy to the Government would exceed the increase in producer revenue.
