Abstract: Answers to some common questions related to food, nutrition, and fitness are provided in this series of five consumer pamphlets from the American Medical Association. "The Healthly Approach to Slimming" discusses standards used to determine obesi ty and provides diet planning guidelines for weight reduction. "Your Age and Your Diet" overviews energy and nutrient requirements for different stages of the life cycle: infancy, childhood, adolescence, adulthood, pregnancy, and older adulthood. "Vitamin-Mineral Supplements" discusses how to determine when supplements are needed and provides guidelines for selecting the appropriate type of supplement. "Sodium and Your Health" discusses the relationship between sodium and hypertension, and shows the sodium content of common foods in each of the major food groups. "Foodborne Illness" describes the consumer's role in preventing a variety of foodborne illnesses, including Salmonella, Staphylococcus, Clostridium perfringens, and botulism. Pamphlets are conveniently packaged together in a labeled legal-sized envelope.
