Abstract: 241 detailed tables contain a statistical summary of the dietary intake of food, calories, and 17 related micro- and macro- nutrients by the US civilian non-institutionalized population ages 6 months through 74 years presented for nutritionists and health statisticians and planners. The data were gleaned from the second US National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey conducted in 1976-80. The data are arranged by age, sex, and poverty status subgroups of the US population. These data should be useful for the development of diets, the identification of population sub-groups that are above or below currently-used standards, the development of food fortification policies, and for the identification of areas in which dietary intake standards might require reexamination.
