The cognitive effects of a health education program on nutrition for selected primary grades
1979
Beougher, Jane Emch
Abstract: Nutrition education should begin in the elementary school; this concept has been thoroughly documented during the last decade. The effects of a program geared to 1st and 2nd grade children was investigated. "Foods-Your-Choice" (FYC) was developed by the National Dairy Council as a teaching aid for grades K-6. The study was tested with three groups of children. Results indicate that the FYC package was more effective with 2nd graders, and might be effective with 1st graders if it is taught toward the end of the school year.
