Problems of diagnosing the solonetzic process in virgin and agriculturally modified soda saline soils of the forest steppe zone in the Omsk oblast

Two methods of diagnosing solonetzic processes (by kinetics of soil swelling and by the B index of physicochemical conditions) have been compared on the example of virgin and agriculturally modified soda solonetzic soils of the forest steppe zone in the Omsk oblast. The methods have produced similar results with-out any chemical melioration: a solonetzic process has been detected. In the majority of instances, the evaluation of alkalinity of chemically meliorated soils using the compared methods has produced the opposite results. After applying the meliorant in large doses, we did not register any solonetzic process using either of the methods.
