Impact of brackish irrigation water on nutrient availability and seed quality of pulses
2013

The field experiment was conducted at Student Instructional Farm, Faizabad in two years during Rabi season to investigate the use of Brackish water for irrigation purpose on pulse crops viz., Lentil, Gram, Pea. The result revealed that the availability of N in soil decreased while that of P increases with increasing levels of RSC in irrigation water. Maximum available N at harvest was recorded under gram followed by Pea, Lentil and Pea had similar content of P, S, K and Na and were superior gram in their respect. Concentration of P, K, Ca and Mg in seed declined significantly and that of Na increased with increasing levels of RSC in irrigation water. The N and hence protein content in seed increased with increasing RSC in water.
