The expanding role of dietary calcium

This article reviews the recent research finding on: the role of calcium in preventing chronic disease, supplement use, and strategies for dietetic practitioners to encourage increased dietary calcium intake. The article visits the debate regarding the effects of calcium on blood pressure, colon cancer, and kidney stone prevention, as well as the differing scientific opinion over whether a Dietary Guideline for calcium should exist.
