Bioefficacy of Newer Miticides Against Mites (Tetranych usurticae Koch.) on Carnation under Polyhouse Condition

Mite, Tetranychus urticae Koch.(Acarina: Tetranychidae) is one of the important pest on carnation under polyhouse condition. Chemical control with novel mode of action of miticides is the implemented to reduce the population of two spotted red spider mite under the polyhouse condition. The treatment with abamectin (0.002%) proved to be most effective in reducing mite population recorded 1.99 average mites per plant against 32.20 average mites per plant in untreated control. It was significantly superior over other treatments and recorded highest 93.96 per cent efficacy. Fenazaquin (0.02%) was the next best treatment in controlling the mites with 85.04 per cent efficacy which was followed by chlorfenapyr (0.01%) with 78.99 per cent efficacy. The next effective treatment was propargite (0.057%) with 77.11 per cent efficacy. The treatments dicofol (0.037%) and ethion (0.10%) showed 75.86 and 73.17 per cent efficacy, respectively. Diafenthiuron (0.075%) with efficacy 69.89 per cent and profenofos (0.10%) with efficacy 68.42 per cent was found to be least effective in controlling mite population.
