Present study is concentrated on the aspect of pesticide degradation by co-application of Bacillus subtilis KPA-1 strain and pesticide monocrotophos before sowing of greengram (Vigna radiata) in soil under pot experimentation. Various yield and growth parameters of greengram plant like, germination percentage (65 days after aowing (DAS); fresh and dry weight of plant, number and fresh and dry weight of nodules; fresh and dry weight of shoot and root (40 and 65 DAS); and number and weight of pods per plant and number and test weight of seeds (65 DAS) were recorded between three different treatments. Results revealed that application of monocrotophos alone significantly reduced the values of above parameters with in the range of 75.31 to 87.88% at 40 DAS and 14.25 to 88.08% at 65 DAS over the control. On the other hand, soils receiving monocrotophos along with Bacillus subtilis KPA-1 strain showed significant improvement in values of above parameters within the range of 28.57 to 77.13% at 40 DAS and 9.61 to 76.97% at 65 DAS. This study implies that, the harmful effect of monocrotophos on growth and yield of greengram can be mitigated by its coapplication with B. subtilis KPA-1 strain.
