Comparative performance of seven fungicides belonging to triazole, dithiocarbamate and chloronitrile groups was evaluated against Colletotrichum capsici, causal agent of chilli fruit rot under in vitro and in vivo conditions for two seasons. under in vitro, tebuconazole (ED₅₀ 24 μg/ml) was found to be the most effective followed by myclobutanil (ED₅₀ 43 μg/ml), hexaconazole (ED₅₀ 59 μg/ml), chlorothalonil (ED₅₀ 115 μg/ml) and difenconazole (ED₅₀ 135 μg/ml) against C. capsici. Dithiocarbamate fungicides propineb (ED₅₀ 310 μg/ml) and mancozeb (ED₅₀ 473 μg/ml) were relatively inferior among the test fungicides. Under field conditions, triazole fungicides tebuconazole, hexaconazole, myclobutanil and chloronitrile fungicide chlorthalonil were effective in descending order against fruit rot for two consecutive seasons. Dithiocarbamate fungicides propineb and mancozeb were found to be comparatively inferior than the rest of the test fungicides.
