Peculiarities of Dog Babesiosis Distribution in Kyiv City

The article presents the information on the distribution of babesiosis among domestic dogs of Kyiv City investigated in 2014–first half of 2017. Among 2030 examined dogs, Babesia canis was found in 416 animals. The prevalence of infection was 20.5 %. Dependence of the number of cases of babesiosis on the temperature of the environment was indicated. The highest level of dogs’ infection was observed in spring (April–May) and autumn (September–October). Ixodid tick Dermаcentor reticulatus was found to be the most common vector of dog babesiosis in Kyiv.
