The present work focuses on a three-dimensional (3D) collision of a moving droplet against a moving super-hydrophobic particle under gravity, by the lattice Boltzmann method (LBM) coupled with immersed boundary method (IBM). Effects of Weber number (We), particle-droplet size ratio (α) and eccentricity ratio (B) are discussed. Four collision regimes are identified: deposition, rebound, breakage and slippage. Especially, the rebound regime can be classified into two sub-regimes based on Weber number: rebound-I and rebound-II. And the breakage regime also has two sub-regimes according to Weber number: breakage-I and breakage-II. A liquid ring is observed during collision of the moving droplet against the moving particle. In the available literature, a liquid ring was reported only when a droplet colliding against a fixed particle, but never for a moving particle. The regime maps are established with We-α and B-α. The present findings may provide guides for many industrial applications.
