Effect of adipokinetic hormone on properties of lipophorin of the silkmoth, Bombyx mori

Miura, K. | Shimizu, I.
1. Adipokinetic hormone (AKH) from Manduca sexta injected into the adult silkmoth, Bombyx mori, resulted in an increase of low density lipophorin (LDLp) content in the hemolymph with concomitant depletion of high density lipophorin (HDLp) and free apolipophorin III (apo-III). 2. AKH injection increased diacylglycerol content in the hemolymph approximately 2.5-fold while the protein content did not change. 3. LDLp from injected moths was associated with an appreciable amount of a protein with a mol. wt of 18,000 in addition to much apo-III, suggesting the involvement of an 18,000 mol. wt protein in AKH-induced formation of LDLp.
