Zum Farbunterscheidungsvermögen der Honigbiene bei niedrigen Umgebungshelligkeiten / Colour Discrimination of the Honey Bee at Low Light Intensities
2014
Pflughöft, Gerhard
Homing foragers of the honey bee (Apis mellifera carnica) were tested for discrimination of colour marks presented to them at the hive entrance. At a low rate of natural illumination the bees were not able to distinguish the coloured (yellow, blue) marks from those with a corresponding gray. However, their general orientation was not disturbed. From this the conclusion is drawn that at low light intensities bees have an achromatic vision besides their known co lour vision at higher intensities.
