A study has been made of the dynamics of cytochrome C biosynthesis in cells of the yeast Candida valida during batch culturing in glucose- and ethanol-containing media. It was shown that, regardless of growth substrate, cytochrome C content increased sharply only when the medium was oxygen-deficient. Cytochrome accumulated gradually in the cells at low medium oxygen concentrations and reached its maximum after the substrate was consumed and culture growth ceased.
