The second year of life is a period of rapid growth and development associated with high nutritional needs and dietary change. Few recommendations exist to guide the feeding of children in this age group. This article reviews nutritional issues affecting the dietary quality in children during their second year, including requirements, dietary patterns, common nutritional problems, and existing feeding recommendations.
