Chromones are present in variety of medicines and natural products as secondary metabolites.Chromone moiety is present in many pharmacophores collectively known as flavonoids. 2-Phenylchromones are called flavones. They are present in flowering plants. Fruits and vegetables are the mainsources of flavonoids for humans. Chromones and flavones are the important cyclic structures inmedicinal chemistry. Chromonesand flavones as phytonutrient exibit many biological activities such asantiviral, antioxidant, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anticancer. Chromones and Flavones are find asimportant synthetic scaffolds in the synthesis of new heterocyclic compounds.Nutrients from raw foodand natural products such as flavonoids show therapeutic effects against covid-19 in reduction ofhospitalization and the severity of pulmonary impact by preventing the most serious forms of theinfection.This review covers the synthesis of some substituted chromones and flavones.
