Physical activity and fitness in obese children
1986
Huttunen, N.P. | Knip, M. | Paavilainen, T.
A study assessed whether obese children are less active and have a lower working capacity than normal weight children, and examined the role of physical activity in overweight reduction and the possible consequences of weight reduction on physical fitness. It was concluded that obese children are less physically fit than normal weight children. It was observed, however, that weight reduction in obesity improves the maximum oxygen consumption towards normal. The study involved 31 obese and 31 normal weight children (ages ca. 6-16 years).(wz)
