2014
Murphy, William L.
Eighty-nine years after the only known specimen of Dictya disjuncta Orth was collected, in Mississippi in 1921, the species was rediscovered in Indiana, U.S.A. in 2010. A gravid female laid eggs that gave rise to two generations of flies. The egg, three larval stages, puparium, and adult female are described and illustrated for the first time, the life cycle is elucidated, the holotype male is redescribed, and the geographical distribution of the species is depicted.
