Performance appraisals that fit
1985
Oliver, John E.
Employees should be divided into 4 categories, according to job responsibilities, so that performance evaluations do not review professionals and support staff in the same way. The design and characteristics of such performance appraisals are discussed. The 4 major categories are: hierarchic positions, professional positions, entrepreneurial or task jobs, and socio-technical or group jobs. Additional suggestions cover the performance evaluation process, common performance evaluation problems, and specific decisions involved in designing the performance evaluation system. (wz)
