Climatic parameters of solar buried greenhouse (insole) under Mediterranean conditions
2003
The choice of an installation for ornamental crops depends on their requirements and the climatic conditions where they must grow. The Buried Solar Greenhouse [INSOLE (Invernadero Solar Enterrado)] can be an appropriate installation for the cultivation of tropical ornamental plants such as the coppice, under special climate conditions like the South of Spain, which offers high radiation levels in winter. This work is a description of such installation, with specific notes on construction details. A simplified energy balance of the INSOLE is presented, and possible approaches of climate management as a function of varying external climatic conditions during the year are discussed. INSOLE makes good use of the received solar energy and confers a great thermal inertia. Nevertheless, it presents high coefficients of radiative extinction due to the radiative absorption of the walls. Moreover, it also diminishes the loss of the sides due to conduction. Wind effect is lower.
