Effect of Supplementation of Polyherbs on Nutrient Digestibility and Growth in Osmanabadi Goats
2014
The present study was conducted to assess the effect of supplementation of herbal combinations on the growth and nutrient digestibility in Osmanabadi goats. Twenty four goats were divided into 3 groups of 8 goats in each group. The animals in all the three groups were fed with maize fodder and farm made concentrate mixture for 120 days except that animals in Group-II were supplemented with herbal combination (Zingiber officinale, Curcuma longa, Allium sativum, Aegle marmelo and Punica granatum) @ 500 g/tonne of feed and Group-III was supplemented with another herbal combination (Terminalia belerica, Andrographis paniculata, Terminalia chebula, Allium sativum and Coriander sativum) @ 500 g/tonne. It was concluded that supplementation of herbal combination increased dry matter intake, live body weight and digestibility of nutrients in goats.
