The Effects of Stem Type on Some Feeding Qualities of Sericea Lespedeza, L. cuneata, as Indicated in a Digestion Trial with Rabbits
1959
Donnelly, E. D. | Hawkins, G. E.
SynopsisRabbits consumed more fine-stemmed sericea than coarse-stemmed. The fine contained more total digestible nutrients, crude fiber, and nitrogen-free extract than the coarse and the digestibility of these constituents was greater in the fine-stemmed forage. The coarse-stemmed type contained more ash and the digestibility of this constituent was higher than in the fine-stemmed. There was no difference indicated in digestibility of the crude protein and cellulose in the two diets.
