The following aspects of the role of nutrition in the aging process are considered in a symposium: 1) the role of diet, especially the protein component, in moderating aging; 2) the problems of lipid metabolism that accompany aging; 3) the effects of dietary restriction on immunological functions; and 4) the possible interaction of nutrition and brain function as concerns neurotransmitters.
