During storage ofthe onion seeds, decrease in germination percentage, root-shoot length, and vigour index was observed irrespective of treatments, while electrical conductivity increased and moisture content fluctuated due to halogenation. The Minimum Seed Certification Standards (MSCS) for germination was maintained up to 270 days in the seeds treated with 3% iodine and stored in polylined cloth bag, whereas it was maintained up to 240 days in 2% chlorine, 1% bromine and untreated seeds stored in polylined cloth, cloth and HDPE bags. Effective storage of onion seeds was achieved due to the treatment ofseeds with 3% iodine formulation and storing them in polylined cloth bag.
