Feeding the handicapped child--a review of intervention strategies
1987
Crane, S.
The feeding problems of handicapped children and the need for feeding therapy intervention are reviewed. Techniques, strategies, and the management of feeding therapy intervention by carers or the intervention team are also discussed. The author states that the aim of intervention should be to improve the child's social, emotional and physical well being and to help him/her to develop new skills. By knowing why therapy is required and planning it imaginatively and sensitively, the child can achieve new personal skills and the whole family's quality of life can be improved.
