1988
Hannah, P. | Glover, V. | Sandler, M.
A letter to the editor reports the results of a study of tyramine levels in 43 wines and beers that was carried out since tyramine can provoke a hypertensive response in patients being treated with monoamine oxidase inhibitors. No significant differences were found in the mean free tyramine content of white and red wines, chiantis, and beers, with the means of these 4 groups ranging from ca. 1.2-1.5 mg/L. It is concluded that ingestion of half a liter of any of these beverages is unlikely to be dangerous.(wz)
