Cell-mediated immunity in genetically obese (C57BL/6J ob/ob) mice
1980
Chandra, R.K.
Genetically obese mice were studied to determine the relationship of obesity to disease susceptibility. The thymus and spleen were examined to estimate weight, number of mononuclear and Thy 1.2 positive cells. Cytotoxic response of spleen cells was definitely lower, though generation of T killer cells against alloantigens was unimpaired. The results indicate no genetic abnormality in lymphocyte function of obese mice but that the internal environment of these animals inhibits immune response.
