Snack consumption improves, new varieties "add on" volume

Findings regarding the purchasing of snack foods are reported. Such factors as age, income and family status are directly related to the purchase and consumption of snack foods. Sales of such snack foods as crackers, potato chips, including fabricated and natural, and corn chips are highlighted. A major problem in the snack industry has been overcoming the image of snacks having poor nutritional profiles. Information affirming the nutritional value of the potato chip is presented.
