A prudent diet for the nation
1979
Mann, J.I.
Nutritional factors in the etiology of coronary heart disease, maturity-onset diabetes, diverticular disease and dental caries are discussed. Four principles for a prudent diet are suggested: avoid excess intake of energy, increase dietary fiber intake, reduce total fat intake to approximately 30 percent of energy intake, and take a high proportion of fat as the polyunsaturated form. Tables present data on mortality rates by country, and incidence of diverticular disease and dental caries.
