Effect of different starchy foods in composite meals on gastric emptying rate and glucose metabolism. II. Comparisons between potatoes, rice and white beans in diabetic subjects

Torsdottir, I. | Alpsten, M. | Andersson, H.
A study assessed whether the blood glucose response (BGR) to composite meals based on mashed potatoes, rice, or mashed white beans is associated with gastric emptying rate (GER) in diabetic subjects, as determined by the Cr-51 isotope label method. The results indicated that GER correlated with BGR for meals based on mashed potatoes and rice, but not for meals based on mashed white beans. The GER-BGR correlation with mashed potatoes and rice meals had earlier been reported for non-diabetic subjects.(wz)
