This article focuses on repetitive motion injuries (RMI) and food service work. It provides a general description of RMI and the standards that have been implemented by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration regarding work conditions that could lead to RMI. Actions that management and employees can take to alleviate and prevent RMI are included along with an example of a successful Minnesota kitchen ergonomics training program, aimed at addressing this problem.
