Thinning experiments in black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia L.) stands have been conducted in Hungary for many years. Black locust is an economically important tree species supplying the domestic timber industry. This paper evaluates two effects of thinnings: the effect on yield and the effect on stand value. The case study has proved thinnings in black locust stands do not increase periodic total production, but do increase the stem-quality index by 11–24%.
