Infestations of Silba adipata McAlpine in Mexico in the last 2 years have caused export issues of figs (Ficus carica L.). Its status as a pest in domestic eradication has increased interest in generating an efficient monitoring and control program. The number of black fig flies and their sex ratio of seven attractants and a control were evaluated in three locations. Results indicated that Tepalcingo and Amilpas de Zacualpan were the localities most infested by S. adipata. The best fly-capture treatments were ammonium sulfate 2 and 4%. The proportions of females: males in Tepalcingo were: 3.0, 3.8, and 3.1, with hexane + water, and with ammonium sulfate at 2 and 4%. In Amilpas de Zacualpa a 4.1 female ratio was reached with 4% ammonium sulfate.
