1978
Scelzi, Gerald
Introduction of a problem-solving group at a hospital in New Jersey has reduced employee turnover, increased productivity, and fostered job satisfaction. Examples illustrate how seeking advice from employees can motivate them to perform better. A system of rotating jobs can also be an effective motivation technique. Dietitians at Holy Name Hospital are not restricted to hemo or pediatric patients. Cooks switch from preparation of sauces, gravies, and soups, to meat cutting, to drying, and to other food preparation areas. Sick calls and absenteeism have decreased.
