Dexfenfluramine influences dietary compliance and eating behavior, but dietary instruction may overrule its effect of food selection in obese subjects

Human studies with dexfenfluramine have focused mainly on short-term or long-term weight loss or on food preferences. Our participation in the Index Study enables us to investigate several factors in an additional number of patients treated with dexfenfluramine or placebo: total intake and food composition at main meals and for between-meal snacks, compliance with dietary instruction, and changes in eating behavior during the 14-month study.
