Torsion is a pathological twisting of intestine on its axis¹, which results in vascular strangulation, ischaemia and occlusion of the lumen of the intestine. It occurs in all species²,⁶ but most common in equines⁴. The torsion is often difficult to untangle, the twist may be 360–720 degrees, either clock-wise or counter clockwise²,⁵.
