2017
Kumar, Pushpam
In the backdrop of response policies to operationalize inclusive green economy, this paper reviews the empirical literature on economic effectiveness of ecosystem restorations. First, it suggests that the efficacy of investment on ecosystems natural capital restoration is significant. Second, it discusses a need for better metrics to measure inclusive green economy. Lastly, it suggests the inclusive wealth index (IWI), which captures and values man made capital, human capital and natural capital as the preferred choice. The IWI holds the potential to inform policymakers on investment trade-offs between different life domains and distributional arrangements at the macro level of the economy.
