Some carcass characteristics of Alpine kids under intensive versus semi-intensive systems of production in France
2001
Anous, M.R. | Mourad, M.
The effect of system of production (intensive versus semi-intensive) on some slaughter and carcass traits of Alpine male kids was evaluated. Data adjusted to a common age, indicated that management system had no significant effect (P > 0.05) on carcass shape (carcass conformation and compactness and gigot conformation) and external fat score. Kids raised under the intensive management (IM) had heavier slaughter and carcass weights and large carcass width (P < 0.01). Their dressing percentage and internal fat score were higher (P < 0.05).
