Introduced infections of viral disease in populations of citrus red mites
1970
Shaw, J. G. | Beavers, J. B.
Large and small populations of Panonychus citri (McGregor) in orange groves were sprayed with the noninclusion virus of this mite applied as a suspension of 0.01% triturated diseased mites, or exposed to infected mites collected in the field. The infection established via the released mites was effective in suppressing large populations but was ineffective in small populations. The stress induced by large populations indicates that the disease is density dependent.
