Young children and job satisfaction
1992
Hanson, S.L. | Sloane, D.M.
Data from the General Social Surveys are used to examine the effect of young children on the job satisfaction of men and women. Literature on women in dual roles often assumes that young children will take away from satisfaction in the work role. Findings from this research suggest that young children have no effect on the job satisfaction of men or women workers regardless of time period, work status, or marital status. This is true for women working in the labor market as well as in the home. Implications for theory and research are provided.
