Lecanicillolide, an α-pyrone substituted spiciferone from the fungus Lecanicillium sp. PR-M-3

A novel α-pyrone substituted spiciferone, lecanicillolide (1), was isolated along with structurally related known compounds 2–4 from the fungus Lecanicillium sp. PR-M-3. The structure of lecanicillolide was elucidated by UV, IR, HRESIMS, and NMR spectral data, ECD analysis and confirmed by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. A plausible biosynthetic pathway for lecanicillolide was also proposed.
