Plant stem cutting are commonly used for vegetative propagation, and it can be used to obtain equal bio-types of Veronica dahurica Steven and the rare species Veronica pusanensis Y.N.Lee. Here, we compared the effects of three concentrations of indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) and α-naphthalene acetic acid (NAA) on the cuttings of V. dahurica and V. pusanensis. The effect of IBA treatment on the root quality of V. dahurica and V. pusanensis was more than that of NAA; moreover, the number of adventitious roots was significantly improved by 1.5 and 0.5 mg L⁻¹ IBA (59.00 and 46.85, respectively). In addition, the root length of V. dahurica treated with 1.5 mg L⁻¹ IBA (15.20 cm) and callus formation percentage of V. pusanensis treated with 1.0 mg L⁻¹ IBA (2.22%) were significantly improved. We suggest that the use of IBA may be beneficial for vegetative propagation of the V. dahurica and V. pusanensis cuttings.
