ASFSA: School programs aim to serve and educate youth

Programs and primary objectives of the American School Food Service Association (ASFSA) are highlighted. In 1977, funding for nutrition education was made available. Youth Advisory council conferences will be held on a regional basis in the fall of 1979. A new National School Lunch Week concept has been discussed with USDA. Interim meal pattern regulations, issued by USDA, can be tested voluntarily by schools. ASFSA also plans training workshops to improve the competency of school food service workers. Child nutrition amendments of 1978 were passed by the 95th Congress.
