Benomyl (methyl 1-(butylcarbamoyl)-2-benzimidazolecarbamate), applied either as a soil drench or as foliar spray, was found to be an effective fungicide for control of mildew on apple leaves. its efficacy was equal to that of a mixture of 2-(1-methylheptyl)-4,6-dinitrophenol and 2(1-methylheptyl)-4,6-dinitrophenyl crotonate (Karathane) applied as a spray, but its systemic nature minimizes the need for complete coverage. it is also an effective spray chemical for control of cherry leaf spot at low concentrations and appears to have a stimulating effect on leaf size.
